About Us

Andrew Smith, class AA P.G.A. teaching professional, in partnership with Peter Syson and Paul Furnival, recognised the need for simple, easy to understand teaching methods for playing golf in book form.

Andrew has been teaching golf at all levels as a club professional and is now a full time freelance coach at York Golf Range. His speciality is teaching people to play quickly and efficiently.

Andrew left the position of club professional to pursue a challenging role as a freelance golf coach. His lesson diary is full nearly every day. Andrew coaches players of all abilities, from the complete novice to the accomplished low handicap player, who all enjoy his style and wish to learn from his extensive knowledge of golf.

Most evenings Andrew takes his very popular beginners group classes, usually of nine people, evenly split between men and ladies. During the classes there will be a discussion where questions will be raised by the pupils who want to know basic techniques and an understanding of the rules. This is where the real substance and content of the books comes from.

Andrew has frequently been asked if simple books are available, pupils need to be able to refer to a book, as learning golf is about understanding the swing and how it works. Drawing from his vast experience and knowledge of all aspects of golf makes the books a golfers' companion.

In the books we dispense with jargon and use illustrations to help simplify instructions.

Because Andrew is a P.G.A. qualified rules official, having passed the exams in March 2002, the rules content of these books have adequate substance. Having so much experience will make the books more interesting, as we will take the pupils along the lifetime journey of learning to play golf at most levels.
